This month’s Spotlight is IQVIA for their continued contributions and involvement with CHP Canada and the consumer health products industry.
1. Describe your business, your clients and the products/services you provide.
IQVIA (NYSE:IQV) is a leading global provider of information, innovative technology solutions and contract research services dedicated to using analytics and science to help healthcare stakeholders find better solutions for their patients. IQVIA Canada is based in Montreal, with offices in Ottawa, Toronto and Halifax. Our growing Consumer Health practice, based in Toronto, has exciting plans for an enhanced set of offerings that we look forward to introducing to the Canadian Self-Care industry in 2019 and beyond.
2. Describe how your business benefits the OTC/self-care market.
IQVIA has a long-standing history of driving client success in the consumer health space. We have recently established a presence in the Canadian market. 3. What innovative new products/services are you working on?
IQVIA’s Consumer Health practice is anchored by our acquisition of OTC retail consumption tracking data. We are building a new approach to maximizing utility and speed to insight of this critical data set, allowing clients to action results efficiently and effectively.
Our Consumer Health consulting practice offers best-in-class, actionable, end-to-end business support, in areas specifically relevant to our industry. These include:
- Understanding the Impact of Rx-to-OTC switching
- Innovation Management, from white-space assessments to new product development
– Idea, Concept and Strategy Development
– Product and Claim Development

Additionally, IQVIA offers core services relevant to the Canadian OTC sector, including our industry-leading Flu Activity Notification (FAN) service, tracking Flu incidence down to a regional level across Canada. Whether for production planning through to tactical, on-the-ground execution, FAN subscribers can plan accordingly towards the areas most significantly impacted by the flu.
Our ProVoice service tracks Canadian doctor recommendations across a series of OTC categories on a quarterly basis.
Finally, we offer a range of Consumer-Health-specific consulting services that are relevant to brand marketers, category managers, the salesforce that targets HCPs and executive leadership.
4. Tell us about your people. What sets them apart from your competition?
Though the Consumer Health team is new to IQVIA, we are CPG/OTC/Market Research industry veterans who can provide a unique perspective to the Consumer Health sector by bringing together all of IQVIA’s data assets to demonstrate relevance to our clients. The core team has worked at companies as wide-ranging as Nielsen, GlaxoSmithKline, Hershey, Kraft, Comscore, GE/NBC Universal & Cegedim.
