Meet our Associate Member Spotlight for May: Q&R Canada Inc.

The “Associate Member Spotlight” is a chance for CHP Canada to highlight to Active members and the consumer health products industry the Associate members who have contributed to the achievements of CHP Canada and the success of the consumer health products industry as a whole.

Each month a different Associate member will be put in the “spotlight”. This will include being featured on our website homepage, blog, and e-newsletter, outlining the fantastic services and/or products the Associate member has available to our Active membership.

This month’s “Associate Member Spotlight” goes to Q&R Canada Inc. for their continued contributions and long-standing involvement with CHP Canada and the consumer health products industry. Congratulations Q&R Canada!

We conducted a short interview with Ed Daley, President of Q&R Canada, which will provide a better understanding of what this great company has to offer:

1. Tell us about Q&R Canada Inc.

Q&R Canada Inc. is a Quality Assurance (QA) and Regulatory Affairs (RA) consulting organization based in Mississauga, Ontario. We are a relatively new organization specializing in servicing the needs of small to medium size corporations requiring the expertise to manage QA/RA, but lack sufficient internal resources.

Currently servicing the needs of well over 30 clients, we have found a niche that has allowed for rapid and sustainable growth.

Specializing in drug, medical devices, natural health products and cosmetics, Q&R’s team is uniquely positioned to provide exceptional service, indispensable technical guidance and overall value in regulatory and quality control consulting to our clients. Whether for short-term projects or on-going service requirements we tailor the approach for each client as required.

2. What are the biggest challenges you face as a consulting company in Canada?

The biggest challenges as a consulting company are very similar to the challenges facing most manufacturers, importers and distributors in Canada today. Regulations are constantly evolving and becoming more and more stringent. Constant monitoring of all regulatory issues is required to stay on top of these changes, as it is vital to evolve with the regulations. As communications and technology continue to evolve, our consulting organization must also be adapting constantly.

The skill sets of our people are our single biggest asset. Our personnel is highly technical and detail-oriented so we are constantly on the lookout for the best talent in the industry.

3. What are some recent trends that Q&R Canada has witnessed in your industry?

There is an increasing trend towards outsourcing the functions of QA/RA, which is specifically why we started Q&R Canada Inc., and it has become successful very quickly. We see this trend continuing.

4. What do you value most about your involvement with CHP Canada?

I have had varied involvement with CHP Canada throughout my career in the pharmaceutical industry. The CHP Canada team has always been supportive in assisting with various regulatory challenges, and they are a valuable source of intelligence to help stay on top of all industry initiatives. As our industry association, they play a valuable role in mediating issues between all levels of government and our industry. I am very pleased to once again be an associate member.
